Stealth Camping Alliance Challenge #3: The Bridge Challenge
Another stealth camping challenge, with the only stipulation this time being that you had to camp under or near a bridge.
The trip was interesting for a couple of reasons. First, it was so windy under this bridge that it was impossible to set up my tent, and second, it was the first time I’ve ever been creeped out on a camping trip, but I’ll get to that in a bit.
A friend had recommended this location to me because I could park my car under the bridge, and it would be out of sight from the highway. Sounded pretty stealthy to me!
When I arrived at the location that afternoon, a couple of people were fishing across the creek from me, but they left soon enough.
The wind under there was a beast, and I valiantly attempted to set up my tent, but it was no use. So, I quickly abandoned the idea and decided to bunk in the car instead.
Thankfully, as evening approached, the wind had died down enough for me to light a campfire in my portable pit, so I cooked some smoked sausage and had a brew.
Soon, it was story time, and that’s when things got weird. I was recording my story segment when I heard what sounded like a person hollering at me.
Not gonna lie, this creeped me out, and I had no qualms about getting things in order and hopping in the car to go to bed.

Fortunately, nothing happened to me, and I woke up early the next morning, loaded everything, and headed home.
I really enjoyed this trip, and I think getting a bit freaked out only added to the fun.
Note: I can think of a few factors that contributed to my creepout that night.
First of all, as I drove to the location of this campout, I was listening to a podcast about sasquatch, and the sound I heard was similar enough to the sounds a bigfoot supposedly makes that my mind couldn’t help but go there.
Secondly, this was a very remote location. It was pretty dark out there, and that, combined with the content of the stories, was also enough to cause someone’s mind to wander, especially when they hear what sounds like a person hollering at them.
I will say that I heard an owl at one point that night, and although I would like to believe that’s all it was, the truth is it wasn’t even close to the same sound.
